Raku
Raku is a Japanese form of firing. The pottery is bisque fired, glazed and placed in a fast heating kiln. It is fired until the glaze becomes liquid, approximately 1950 degrees. The pots are taken out of the kiln and placed in airtight containers that are filled with sawdust, paper or any combustable material. The pottery is left to cool in the container, then cleaned with water to remove soot and debris.
